HOW TO USE These USQC member Quail WIngs: Use these quail wings with a fishing pole and a piece of string to teach a young pointer how to "whoa" and stay on point until given the command to flush. Attach 1 quail wing or pair of quail wings to the included throw dummy using the thick included elastic band (supplied or you can use broccoli bunch bands) to teach "Retrieve!", "Fetch!" or our favorite "Get The Bird!".
How to use the included FREE Retriever Throw Dummy: Inculded with your quail wing 6-pack is a length of firehose cut to size and heat sealed to prevent fraying for long life. Also included is a generic 16oz empty water bottle. Filled the water bottle 50% +/- with WARM water and squeeze the bottle to remove the air. Adjust the water volume as desired to provide weight and to mimic the body temp of a live bird. Insert the bottle into the Throw Dummy sleeve and use the included elastic band to attach the quail wings.
You can have your pup hold on "whoa", toss the throw dummy and give the command "Get the bird!" to release his hold and retrieve. Use a check chord to "encourage" immediate return and work in a cap gun or starter pistol after some time to mimic the shot sound. You can also plant multiple wings/throw dummies in the field and work your dog to find them (retrievers). Have an unscented throw dummy in your field jacket when training pointers and throw the dummy to get him to break point on "Get Them Birds!" command. He will retreive the winged dummy, so remeber where you throw the clean one. Use landscape marker flags when setting wings in the field for easy retrieval. Interested in Live Bird training?
