Freeze Dryer machines are different than dehydrators. They remove the water (making the processed product lighter in weight, but also take the temperature down to -400°F wich kills bacteria while maintaining the intergrity of the product chemical structure. Freeze Dried Foods can have a 20 year shelf life, almost 10 times that of dehydrated food.
